Job Description Job Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Chula Vista, California. This Contract to permanent position involves managing payroll for a high-volume, manual environment while ensuring accuracy and compliance with California payroll regulations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in payroll processing, thrives in fast-paced settings, and is eager to adapt quickly to new systems and workflows. Responsibilities: • Process complete payroll cycles for approximately 1,000 employees in California, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. • Coordinate weekly payroll operations across two locations with alternating bi-weekly schedules. • Utilize and master the company’s proprietary timekeeping system with provided training. • Maintain payroll data integrity using advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas. • Conduct regular reconciliations and audits to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance. • Address and resolve discrepancies promptly to maintain smooth payroll operations. • Adapt to a manual, high-volume payroll process with minimal onboarding support. • Ensure timely submission of payroll data and reporting to meet strict deadlines.• Minimum of 3–5 years of payroll experience, particularly in high-volume settings. • Strong knowledge of California payroll regulations and practices. • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. • Background in payroll accounting or general accounting is highly preferred. • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and processes. • Willingness to work fully on-site across two locations within East County. • Flexibility to adjust work schedule as needed to meet payroll deadlines.
