SUMMARY OF ROLEDanaher---s Labor & Employee Relations Center of Excellence (LER COE) provides core labor and employee relations services to its operating companies (OpCos) based on deep subject matter expertise and experience and plays a critical role in creating and supporting an equitable workplace culture where associates can be at their most productive and focus on growing their careers.-- The LER COE Regional Leader --- North America (Regional Leader) will integrate and execute DHR LER COE strategic plans, projects, and objectives into the region (U.S. and Canada) in an effective manner, including meeting applicable operational and service level requirements.-- The Regional Leader will offer creative and effective recommendations and solutions for challenging and sensitive labor and employee relations matters, and will be responsible for development, execution and adoption in the region of consistent labor and employee relations processes, programs and practices that support a positive and fair workplace culture consistent with Danaher---s Code of Conduct and Core Values.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with Danaher---s VP --- Global Labor & Employee Relations (VP --- Global LER) and support her in the preparation, implementation, and ongoing operation of LER COE services in North America.
  • Provide regular and clear communication to the VP --- Global LER regarding labor and employee relations issues and opportunities
  • Manage a team of professional ER Specialists to ensure high performance and delivery of high quality LER services and ensure each team member---s continued talent development and career growth.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on core LER issues and develop scalable best practices, including use of workflows and process-oriented solutions to promote organizational effectiveness in LER service delivery.--
  • Leverage deep technical LER knowledge to review and improve LER policies and practices and provide guidance and recommendations in sensitive and complex LER matters consistent with company policies and core values in support of desired workplace culture.--
  • Strengthen LER related compliance by proactively advocating for ethics and fairness while appropriately mitigating risk.
  • Responsible for driving education, process and program improvements, and audits as appropriate through training and other methods.
  • Develop and proliferate consistent and sustained adoption of Standard Work and best practice tools by HR organization and stakeholders.
  • Manage / conduct sensitive and complex HR investigations in North America.
  • Advise as to interpretation and application of policies and procedures to resolve employee relations matters including but not limited to performance management, employment terminations, labor/social partner relations, and leave management and accommodations
  • Serve as escalation point regarding North American LER issues and handle and consult on complex LER matters.
  • Improve LER service efficiencies and effectiveness based on metrics driven continuous improvement.
  • Develop and conduct LER training curriculum for key HR stakeholders regarding LER COE core processes and best practices.
  • Responsible for all people leadership activities with respect to the North American LER COE team including training, performance management and talent development.
  • Liaise with DHR L&E Legal Team as required.QUALIFICATIONS
    • Deep knowledge of US and Canadian LER subject matter; keeps pace with changes in external labor and employment relations landscape in US and Canada.
    • Possesses a blend of deep LER-- expertise and experience and a proactive bias by leading and contributing to projects, initiatives, and ongoing programs in collaboration with the broader LER COE organization.--
    • Develops and maintains internal knowledge of pertinent Danaher level and OpCo level agreements, guidelines and policies that impact labor and employee relations.
    • Possesses and employs strong critical thinking and problem-solving acumen.
    • Excellent written and oral and presentation skills with professional presence; able to clearly and concisely communicate progress, results, and guidance to critical stakeholders in timely manner.
    • Able to garner respect of and influence HR and business clients at various levels of the organization and builds trusting relationships and followership with others.
    • Approaches decisions proactively and in a fact-based way, makes effective and pragmatic choices, balances benefit and risk, maintains compliance, and drives holistic LER strategies.
    • Leverages facts and data from multiple sources, readily understands the data elements needed for specific analyses, and translates it into actionable LER strategies or solutions.
    • Demonstrates composure in tough situations and does not retreat from constructive conflict.
    • Never compromises high ethics and integrity and remains objective and fair at all times
    • Is non-political in conduct with agendas that are above board and understood by all
    • Guides discussions to enable others to express concerns and perspectives and accurately summarizes and narrows issues
    • Engages and aligns others on processes and actions and drives execution
    • Is a self-starter, manages time effectively, and has superior planning and organization skills; able to prioritize and meet deadlines in fast-paced and matrixed organization
    • Possesses operational and customer service orientation with high sense of urgency
    • Possesses empathy and understanding for needs of diverse groupsREQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
      • Bachelor---s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or another related field
      • MBA preferred but not required
      • 7+ years of labor and employee relations experience with substantial responsibility in leading a variety of complex LER issues to conclusion including investigations, group terminations, etc.
      • 3+ years of management / people leader experience
      • Deep subject matter expertise regarding major U.S. and Canadian labor and employment laws and labor and employee relations landscape
      • Proven track record for developing, improving, executing and scaling LER programs and solutions and for managing and measuring program effectiveness and customer satisfaction
      • Experience working in a high-energy, quickly changing and demanding environment
      • Significant experience in managing, handling and executing employee relations investigations and preparation of appropriate documentation
      • Significant experience with project and change management
      • Significant experience preparing and presenting LER training/educational materials to large HR audiences
      • Experiences that demonstrate an ability to function independently and effectively in a complex, matrixed organization
      • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Excel and with frequent use of ER Case Management technology platform
      • Able to travel 20 - 30%PHYSICAL DEMANDS
        • Include considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, monitor)
        • May occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
        • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20 lbs.
        • Physical activity associate with business travel
